Hyundai Tucson Compared to The Hyundai Santa Fe

Korean manufacturer has a total of six crossovers for the US market at present, among which Tucson and Santa Fe are a couple. It is clearly up to the challenge of taking on American manufacturers Ford and Chevrolet. Hyundai is said to be a company that understands the mentalities of its customers well, and this is apparent through the above products. This write-up will compare the Hyundai Tucson and the Hyundai Santa Fe in greater detail.

Outside Appearances:

Hyundai Tucson has an edgy front fascia and looks like the sharper SUV of the two. It comes with knife-like taillights and angular body panels. From the front, it showcases a distinctly aggressive appearance. The Santa Fe comes with a wheelbase of 108.9 inches, which is significantly longer than 105.5 inches in the Tucson. This holds true despite both being categorized as compact SUVs by Hyundai.

While the Tucson looks more muscular, the Santa Fe has relatively straight lines of design. In fact, the Santa Fe looks closer to an MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) than the Tucson in terms of design.

Inside Appearances:

More cargo and passenger space are naturally available in the Santa Fe than in the Tucson by virtue of its size. Interestingly, the Tucson has more room behind the second row, at 38.7 cubic feet, in comparison to 35.9 cubic feet in the Santa Fe. Rear legroom in the Santa Fe is almost identical to the Tucson.

The insides of the Tucson look a step above from the 2020 version of the Santa Fe. Buyers will benefit from the presence of an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top variant gives the option of a 10.3-inch touchscreen here. A fully digital instrument cluster can be seen behind the steering wheel on the Tucson.

Compared to the Tucson, the Santa Fe comes with a smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen in the base variant. 8.0-inch touchscreen is available but isn’t quite as good as the one in the Tucson. However, an updated Hyundai Santa Fe is on the cards and can be expected soon.

At present, interior material on the Tucson appears to be more premium than the Santa Fe. The dashboard on the 2020 Hyundai Tucson looks simplistic but modern. The Santa Fe comes with features such as dual front automatic temperature control and with adjustable seating.

Engine options

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is available with different engine options, with one of them being a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine with 190 hp of power and 182 lbs.-feet of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic. A hybrid engine options is also available, with 1.6 liter, 4-cylinder engine with 230 hp of power and 258 lbs.-ft of torque. This is mated to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic.

Similarly, options are also available on the Santa Fe. The base engine is a 2.4 cylinder powertrain that generates 185 hp of maximum power and 178-lbs.-ft of peak torque. Buyers can also consider a 2.4 liter turbocharged engine option with 235 hp of power and 260 lbs.-ft of torque. AWD (All Wheel Drive) is available as an option on both crossovers.
