2021 Hyundai Sonata

Family sedans are a rare breed these days, with most American buyers preferring SUV’s and crossovers. Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata are a few of the remaining options for buyers. Someone who wants to gain attention while driving a family sedan must choose the 2021 Hyundai Sonata. Three highly efficient engines power the trims here, as would be visible during this write-up.

Trim Options:

Korean manufacturer Hyundai offers five trims on the new Sonata. These are:

  • SEL
  • SEL Plus
  • SE
  • N Line
  • Limited

Exterior Appearance:

From the front, the new Sonata seems to resemble a Maserati. The front fascia of the Sonata’s N Line trim has been tweaked to showcase a new grille, which Hyundai calls a ‘signature cascading grille’. The sides come with unique side skirts and there are uniquely shaped 19 inch alloy wheels that make the car appear aggressive. LED headlights and daytime running lights are available on all trim levels. The aesthetic appearance of the daytime running lights is unique, which makes it stand out from other cars. Buyers will be able to see the N Line badge right on the front grille. Even the lower fascia looks impressive.

Functional slots on the front sides at the front can be seen, which make the vehicle attractive on the side. Fender’s sport intricate details on the side. No fake vents are visible on the side. The side sills on this car are functional and extend far down its side length.

At the rear, the N Line gets features such as a sporty rear diffuser, split 4-tip exhaust system, and a black lower bumper. The roof line slopes into the rear glass, and a glossy black rear spoiler is present here.

Engine and Performance

Two engines have been made available on the 2021 Hyundai Sonata. These are as follows:

  1. 1.6 liter turbo, generating 191 hp of power and 181 lbs.-ft of torque.
  2. 2.5 liter natural aspirated turbocharged engine with 290 hp of power and 311 lbs.-ft of torque.

All the power is directed towards the front wheels, making this a FWD (Front Wheel Drive). The engine has been mated to an 8-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). Power available is impressive for a vehicle of this size. The car accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and attains a top speed of 150 mph.

Interior Appearance:

Contrast stitching is available in the N Line, as is the famous Bose surround system. Materials used at the front are of high quality. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been made available here. Customers can choose from different drive modes given in the touchscreen display. The dead pedal at the front is quite large.

Dual climate control is available, and sleek AC vent are visible at the front. Gloss black color is available on the center console. Large cup holders are available at the front. The armrest available here is semi soft and is made from excellent quality material.

Heated Front Seats (SEL and above) have been made available. While front passenger seat gets manual seat control, the driver’s seat gets electric controls.

Safety Features:

Top-of-the-line safety technologies here are:

  • Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Driver Attention Warning
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
